The TVS Method
Information available to students of singing that offer a clear and concise path to learning advanced vocal techniques is hard to find and even more difficult to understand. Those that need to learn vocal technique seek an organized, common sense voice pedagogy that can explain extreme vocal techniques such as Passaggio bridging, radical range expansion, distortion and the application of laryngeal manipulations (vocal modes) to make the voice sound and feel like a fully, connected “chesty” belt.
There is, however, a new age of voice pedagogy that is emerging and demystifying the “how-to” of these extreme singing techniques. On the front lines of this new breed of voice teacher, is the work of Robert Lunte from The Vocalist Studio™ in Seattle Washington, USA where students train on a stage, use amplification and most importantly are learning some of the most advanced vocal techniques available anywhere for singers.
TVS pedagogy is both a method and a set of finely tuned techniques, which at their core, push the envelope of what it means to train for singing and human phonation, TVS offers singers a path to truly learn the techniques they need and want to learn quickly.”At The Vocalist Studio we train vocal athletes; we give students all the tools and understanding they need to have a singing voice that can produce super human results, and we show them how to do it on the fast track so they can apply their new techniques to their art as soon as possible, getting to the point of voice training”, Robert Lunte.
TVS training offers solutions for some the most difficult kinds of techniques any singer may endeavor to master. TVS “vocal athletes” learn to; seamlessly bridge the chest/head registers to completely free the voice from any constriction or vocal breaks and enjoy amazing freedom and range. After register bridging is coordinated, TVS “vocal athletes” train “vocal modes” to learn how to manipulate the underlying laryngeal physiology and formant they produce in order to impact the resulting acoustics produced in their singing. Simply put, TVS vocal athletes train TVS techniques to sing through all vocal registers without any obstruction and develop head voice phonations into sounds that give the illusion to the audience that the chest voice is singing above F4 (for men) & Bb4 (for women). In summary, TVS pedagogy focuses on application of exotic laryngeal modes through darker formants in the head voice. To “bridge and connect”, as it is referred to at TVS, is to master an auditory illusion that makes any listener take notice and launch a singer’s vocal career to world-class potential. Lastly, TVS pedagogy produces results quickly.
